SRC Gurren Lagann Review

This is my first toy review! So don't expect anything too great...

First off, here are some scans of the box it came in.

This is it right out of the box! Still in its plastic tray as you can see.

Now, onto the accessories!

It comes with a decent amount of hands, including a pair of PIERCE THE HEAVENS hands.
It also comes with a pair of shades for when Gurren Lagann does its GIGA DRILL BREAKER
Unfortunelty, I don't have the DRILL SET OF MANLINESS yet.

The biggest accessory he comes with is his jet-pack, the Gurren Wing.
It's very well detailed, and its wings are articulated as well! The drills look especially nice.

To attach it to GL you'll have to remove a plate on its back.

As you can see, the connection point is the same as in the Mazinger SRCs...
Well get to that later.

There are three different faces included, a closed mouth face, open mouthed face, and a clenched teeth face. To switch them you basically have to nudge the face until it seperates from the head. GL's crest is also removable and it helps a bit.

GL comes with an alternate forehead piece for the Gurren face, in case you wanted to make him look not as cool. Oh, and for when hes throwing his sunglasses I GUESS...
At first I was afraid to pull his forehead with shades piece off, since it was pretty stuck in there. Fortunately, with a little force, I was able to get it off. Now I can remove it without any trouble!
Don't mind the missing pieces. I didn't really think the pictures through....

The only complaint I have with this is that you cant twist the forehead piece around like in the revoltech version. Stuck with just one emotion...
I even made a gif out of it!
Another neat thing about the Gurren face is that the jaw can move up and down! It's a really nice touch. I tend to fiddle around with it every once and awhile.

Now...onto the articulation.

The articulation on this guy is really good! He can pull off a variety of dynamic poses. But I mean, how else would you pose him?

A lot of the joints have the ability to extend, and give more poseability. The shoulder and neck joints are shown extended here.

Here are all the joints extended besides the feet.

The feet joints allow GL to spread his legs as far as...
...yet still have even footing.
Though if you spread them too far the waist armor can pop off.

The waist joint can extend, and let GL lean his top half back.
Oh, you thought that was ALL he could lean back?

Both the knees joints and elbow joints are double jointed. They're each on a ratchet join.
The joints allow both the lower arms and legs to twist 360°.
Also, you might not be able to tell, but since the lower legs are die-cast, they're a different shade of red than the rest of the body. It bugs me, but its not that noticeable.

Now...for the thing that most people are mad about.. The Knee Pads.

As you can tell,
They're big.
Very big.

If you look at them from above (or below) you can see that there is a lot of empty space.
I'm sure they could have made the knee pads smaller because of this. Why they didn't? I'll never know...

But honestly? This is such a good figure that I can overlook that fault.

Remember the hole for the Gurren Wing I mentioned earlier?
Its time to talk about that.
As I mentioned, its the same as the ones the Mazinger series SRC have.
Its basically part of the gimmick announced when the Gurren Lagann and Gunbuster were announced.
It allows you to attach the Mazinger Scranders to GL and Gunbuster, and vice versa.
But that's not all.
You can also mix and match the arms between them.
Shin Mazinger with Gurren Wing
Mazinger Z with Gurren Lagann's lower arms.

Gurren Lagann with God Scrander and Shin Mazinger lower arms.
Possibly my favorite part about this gimmick is that you can also attach the Rocket Punch effects to Gurren Lagann.
Pierce The Heavens with your ROCKETTO PAAANNNNCCCHHHHIII
Allright, so I guess this is the end of the review.
I can honestly say that I Fuckin' Love This Figure.
If you can ignore the few flaws that it has, then I  definitely recommend you go buy this figure

I give this
TEN CRYING KOUJIS OUT OF TEN
Ill just leave you guys with some random Gurren Laggan pictures I took.

See ya next time...
